Hello everyone,
I'm Chris for NeoGadget, and today we are going to analyse tablets, and try to point
out their target audience.
We all own a laptop, and a phone - ussually smartphone - so who needs a tablet ?
Firstly let's explain what a tablet really is. It is like a smartphone - only bigger.
This one is a 7 inch tablet (the Nexus 7)
It is about 3-4 times larger that a mouse.
Now, let's move on.
The 7 inch size, is about right for everyhting.
It fits in your pocket, while it is large enough so that you are able to get some work done.
When is come to hardware, and pricing things are positive.
The nexus 7, cost around 200 euros, and boasts a quad-core tegra 3 cpu/gpu, 1 gb or ram,
and a 720p hd Screen.
When it comes to smarthpones, this features are ussually found on more expensive devices.
- not always, but thats ussual .
Lets pan around first.
As you can see the start screen, houses a ton of applications, folders etc.
This is possible due to the Android OS, of course.
- really convinient -
We have Access to quick settings and notifications as well.
These features are present on smartphones, it is just that everythings feels cramped.
Let's see that it feels like to read an e-book on a tablet.
I opened a random ebook ( LoTR 1 )
You can see that the application uses the whole screen's real estate.
We can switch through pages with that nice effect.
What a tablet can do is the follwing:
Being able to present a whole page while keeping the fonts large enough to be readable.
Smartphones can typically present something like that !
which isnt going to be really pleasant.
Ok, now lets move on.
Next stop: Reading a .pdf .
We ussually have to read pdfs, lets open the first one.
It is a presentation made by a company,
Ok, lets focus on Toilet Paper - lol -
What I wanted to point out is that while it is readable in portrait mode, when using the
tablet in landscape mode we are able to enjoy the text-pics much easier.
Even the smallest of the finest details.
Now lets underline and edit few things.
We can highlight , and draw, easilly.
We can add text as well.
We can do everything shown right now, on a smartphone. But really, would you like to
fiddle with a 3-4 inch device ?
Next up ! Web surfing.
This experience reminds the one when using a laptop.
Lets try to open an other page.
- the wifi signal is weak, that's why it is laggy. -
When surfing the web in portrait mode, it reminds of a smartphone.
Now let me explain, how serious work can be done on a tablet !
Yep, this little device is capable of much!
It might not be better that your laptop, but it can put up a fight !
Let me explain:
I ll open a spreadsheet, and use this case.
This is a cheap case that protects your tablet, and dubbles up as a stand.
Firstlty, we secure our tablet, and prompt it up .
I can provite the links for the accessories is you wish.
For 45 euros, I bought, about a year ago, a wireless bluetooth qwerty Keyboard, and
a mouse.
fyi, the battaries last for ever.
The keyboard is really light and strong reminding of an apple one.
With this setup you can have an experience similar to the one you have when using a PC.
It is especially usefull for note keeping and word docs.
Since we are commenting on keyboards, let me demonstrate the toutchreen keyboard.
This offering might not be perfect, but it lets u reply to an email etc.
In portrait it reminds a smartphone.
When it comes to note-keeping Evernote is Awesome! Download it on your PC, smartphone, and tablet.
Let's try to play a game !
I need something with advanced graphics.
Shadowgun will do.
It is a great game, it is just that i only have the online version of it.
The wifi is weak thought and i hope that it will load the game...
Lets not forget, that all apple, google, samsung, lg, lenovo have some great offerings.
A tablet beteen 150-300 euros is going to be good enough. There is no need to spent
600-800 euros !
Just keep in mind that it should sport a decent HD screen, atleat 1gb of ram, and a 2-core cpu.
Im having a trouble with the acount authentication.
Anyway, lets close the game,
Lets talk money now.
The apple tablet, the ipad costs around 400-800 euros.
You can find a 70-euro tablet, but i suggest that you do spent a little more.
I suggest that 200-300 euros is the ideal price range to get something decent.
The 2012 nexus 7, costs around 180 euros today.
The GPS navigator is notable as well.
Since we commented on media and productivity, we should check out a movie and end this video.
Lets check out the Navigation system.
Imagine that in your car - it is more that comfortable to use, and reliable !
When it come to reading a book, working on an assingment, reading a pdf, playing a game,
surfing the web, and using the gps maps anyone should agreee that even though these things
are doable on a smartphone, everything is far more enjoyable on a large-screen tablet.
Lets try to watch a movie now.
A tablet
is the perfect companion when commuting, when it comes down to media consumption.
It is really fast and responsive.
Ok that is enough for now.
That was my presentation, i hope that i convinced you that
tablets are supperior to phones when using certain apps,
and that they can be more enjoyable than on a smartphone.
I suggets that you also give them a try !
I am Chris for Neogadget,
and I hope that you all have a nice one.
