When you arrive in Australia to study, you might be looking for a place to live.
Make sure you inspect the place you're looking at.
Don't rely on photos, or a website, or what a similar apartment might look like.
Once you've found a place to move into, the first thing you should do is get a signed,
written contract.
You may need to pay bond when you move in, and then start paying rent.
Avoid paying in cash, and make sure you get a receipt every time.
Is something broken or not working properly?
Your landlord has an obligation to fix these kinds of things.
It's a good idea to call them about the problem, and follow up with an email.
Try to document your interactions.
So what happens when you decide to move out?
Generally, you can't just move out whenever you want.
You'll usually have to write a letter, giving notice before you want to leave.
If you leave the place in a good condition, you should be able to get your bond back.
There are a bunch of great resources available online to help you out.
