Simply put, I grew up in poverty. I grew up in the projects and as a kid I slept on the
floor with the rats and roaches. My mom kicked me out when I was 10 years old and I grew
up in the system; I was a ward of the state. Despite going from home to home, I was a dreamer;
I would dream about hanging out with other dreamers! I wanted to surround myself around
happiness. I wanted to become a success story; I didn't want to become a number. I wanted
to show other kids that, "hey you can still make it despite all of the opposition, all
of the impediments in life."
To set the tone: to illustrate to others that the story of tragedy can still be a story
of success. And I want to do that on film. That's my dream.
