Photoshop - Making images have a transparent background
Open your image in Photoshop. Select the entire artboard. (Command+A or
Ctrl+A) Copy it. (Command+C or Ctrl+C) This will lock in the dimensions of the image.
From the File Menu select New. The dimensions will already be set to the
size you need, just make sure that the background contents is set to be Transparent. Select
OK. Paste the image you originally copied. (Command+V
or Ctrl+V) Select the Magic Wand Tool (W).
With the Magic Wand Select the area which you are trying to make transparent.
If there is more than 1 area you want to make transparent, select the Select More button on the toolbar
to add more sections. Select the other areas and then press Delete.
When you are done, save your image. To preserve the transparency of your image always "Save As" a PNG file.
