Hello my name is Joachim Winkelhock,
today we're going to compare two great Opels:
The Opel GSI and the Astra OPC.
Let's go!
We're in the Opel GSI.
Built 1991, so it's actually 20 years old, a quarter of a century.
It has 115 hp, which was top of the line back then.
It's really fast.
Now we're in the new Astra OPC.
Built 2012, 2.0 liter direct injection, 400 NM torque, 280 hp.
It comes with a six speed engine
and a top speed of 250 km/h.
That's awesome.
When it came to acceleration
the GSI did great compared to the competition back in its time.
150 hp, 2.0 liter cubic capacity.
In terms of acceleration the GSI really set some
standards back then.
However, not too much thought
was put into the brake system.
The acceleration of the new Astra OPC:
from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds.
It is a true sports car.
With the new Astra OPC
no one needs to hide,
the OPC performance brakes are extremely advanced.
Braking distance from 100 to 0 is under 36 meters.
In terms of the chassis, the new Astra OPC
compares easily with race cars
from 15 to 20 years ago.
It's unbelievable how much progress has been achieved
during the last few years.
I really used to like driving the Kadett GSI,
it was a lot of fun.
But today, to stay ahead
there's really now way around the Astra OPC.
