11-06-13 Hello
This is Jacob Winkler I want to do a prayer and meditation today
inspired by the news about Edward Snowden and the NSA leaks and the PRISM program and
all of this stuff about, on one hand the government's surveillance and the need for security and
on the other hand, the loss of privacy and the feeling of being very exposed and vulnerable
to the government, to our own government. So, take a deep breath and just relax and
it's so important to be able to do this when you hear the news. The news is pretty disturbing
nowadays, pretty much every day there's something going on and it's really important to be able
to see the news in the right context, the right perspective. For me, that means being
able to go to a place of prayer and compassion and blessing instead of a place of worry,
fear and sadness. So, take a deep breath and let's hold up our
hands and let's, first of all, send all our love and compassion to everyone who has been
affected by any kind of terrorism and anyone who has anymore fear or grief in their life
because of terrorists; because of violent acts. Those people who have lost friends and
family. All we are doing is just imagining these people and imagining sending them this
healing light and this loving energy and this prayer that they know they are not alone and
they know that we are thinking of them and that we just one of many people who are constantly
sending this love to everyone in the world. We are just tuning in.
So, now let's send our love to everyone who feels scared because there is so much violence
in the world, everyone who is so worried and scared and the people who are doing the best
they can to protect us. The government; the people at every level; the policemen; the
firemen; the armed forces; everyone who is involved in protecting us; everyone who feels
that fear and responsibility. Let's also send our love, our compassion and our prayer for
healing to all the people who find terrorism and violence a compelling option, who find
comfort in the belief that is the right thing for them to do, to find satisfaction and fulfilment
in that violence. We want to pray that they have an epiphany of some sort and they will
be able to have a new understanding, to have a healing, to have their needs met, to grow,
to evolve, whatever they would need to be able to choose a different life.
Now let's us send our love, support and prayer to Edward Snowden, whether or not you agree
with his actions of releasing the documents, the NSA leak. He believed that it was an act
of great courage and certainly it's going to make his life a lot different to what it
was. So our prayer for him is that he be safe and that, whatever it is, in the highest good
of all, occur for him in this case.
We pray that all people in government, all the people in these agencies and contractors
that they are all blessed and inspired to be motivated by their best intentions and
their deepest wisdom, intuition and caring. Whatever actions they do, they are done with
a sense of tremendous responsibility to the world that they are creating.
Let us pray and hold the space that everyone in the world should feel so loved and safe
and nourished, so abundant and peaceful, that we can live in a world without violence and
without the need for such intense security and surveillance.
Then, let us give thanks for the gift of our lives and ask God to help us trust in their
unfolding and their safety and their perfection and God help us to know that everything is
perfect in each moment. Help us to trust and to live with courage and gentleness in a world
that sometimes seems so scary. Thank you for listening.
