thank you again for letting me sit down and just share with you a simple thought
from our devotional reading, as we read through our Bible together in one year.
Our passage today that I'm gonna use is from Genesis Chapter 46
as Joseph sits down and teaches his father and his brothers
how to answer
Pharaoh, the most powerful man in the world
in verse 33 when Pharaoh, calls you in and asks "What is your occupation?"
You should answer
your servants have tended livestock from our boyhood on, just as our fathers did
then
now you need to circle the word 'then' on your Bible
then he will be allowed to settle in the region of Goshen
for all Shepherds are detestable to the Egyptians. Fascinating
truth
opens doors
Truth Opens Doors
now you think of the fact that Joseph had to sit down and teach his father to
tell the truth,
Jacob had lied for a long time,
you sit down to understand the fact that
Joseph had to teach older brothers
how to tell the truth
but remember they have been living in lies for a
very long time
and covering up lies for a very long time
it is very easy when lying has become a part of our...
nature, so to speak, we yielded ourself to it it's very interesting that we think that
a lie is what will open a door for us.
Well. Pharaoh had promised Goshen. a land of great abundance and provision
and five more years of famine were coming
but if they had lied before this great man that day
they would have never have been able to walk into the land of Goshen
the thing that brought them into the land of Goshen. a place of provision and
protection
during an economic crisis
because they told the truth
Now that truth may not have been nice for Pharaoh's ears because
Joseph and the brothers and the father all knew that shepherds were to detestable
to Pharaoh and to all the Egyptians they. they consider them unclean
and dirty and nasty
but rather than trying to lie about who they were
they were just honest
about who they were
and that honesty.
that truthfulness is what opened doors.
Brothers and Sisters
as you make decisions today about it
what to say to people and positions of authority over you
don't tell them what you think they want to hear what they will enjoy hearing
learn to just be honest.
Truth Opens Doors.
