Hi! This is video-log # 2 in my new series.
The 2nd of January. A new fresh year - 2011. Wonderful!
I'm kind of wondering, which creative way to go...
What kinds of clothing do I really like - or get my inspiration from?
And I always end up with the sole process itself - and the unfinished result.
And... discussing this with friends...
I realized... or rather, have been told, that I think in meta-terms.
Meta, as in a theory made within another theory,
or to investigate a theory in an environment of other theories.
As an example, we could take this old t-shirt,
which I haven't worn lately, since I don't wear bought clothes anymore.
It was all twisted and imprecisely cut.
And as you can see, I have cut it up.
Looking to its hemline and stripes, it's quite uneven.
While cutting it up in pieces, I'd tried to correct the seams.
(The underarm seam shown here is quite slanted.)
But... to find some kind of logic in this,
I probably shouldn't have corrected these seams, but kept them as they were...
... and make something with this twisted shape, turning it into a correct result.
Why this, then?
Because I'm very focused on the only thing ready-to-wear ISN'T doing - unfinished clothing.
Everything bought ready-to-wear is ready, nice, proper and wholesome.
When you visit a tailor, it's mostly a messy process you'll embark.
At least if you want to create something new together with your tailor.
Something you'd probably would like to do.
Therefore, I figure unfinished clothes have to be the thing to do.
Somewhat tilted and twisted, as I've mentioned before, but unfinished. I kind of like that.
Why should you pay for unfinished items, then?
Well... That, I haven't figured out yet. But I myself do like to wear un...
Well, I don't LIKE to wear unfinished clothes; it just ends up that way,
since I never have the time to get my own clothes ready.
I always seem to miss a pocket, or... looking kind of odd.
Still, that has its charm too. And that's why I would like to try this, starting with this t-shirt.
Not making it poorly, but just repeating the original mishaps,
and turn them into "the right way". Somehow.
Just a test, and then I'll have to look at the results later on.
Anyway. Tomorrow it's Monday, the first working-day of the year. Looking forward to that.
See you again soon. Bye!
