Hello, my name is Dr. Susan Jewell. Now in this clip we're going to talk about the visual
inspection of the testicular self exam or the TSE. Now, the best time to do the testicular
exam is every month at the same time possibly is to come out of a hot shower, because then
your body and all your muscles are relaxed and your testicles are relaxed in the scrotal
sack. Find a well lit room and a full length mirror, of course that you're going to be
naked and in this demonstration our subject is wearing shorts. But you'll be naked and
you're standing in front of the full length mirror. Look at the ***, look for the
positioning and see that they're equal in height and position and also in the size.
Also notice, see if you find any kind of unilateral which means that one *** is slightly
larger than the previous exam. And also look for any signs of redness or discoloration
and any lumps or bumps. Of course you will also be palpating and feeling and touching
your *** at the same time. What you do then next is to keep a log or a diary every
time you do the examination and write down if you find any suspicious signs or lumps
that you never noticed before in you're previous examination. In this way, you can have a real
detailed log of your examinations so when you go and see your doctor any time you are
suspicious of a lump, you can then show the doctor your diary and they can follow and
track back the first time you noticed this particular suspicious sign.
