Hello!!! This is Sweetie! Good morning! I am Sweetie. Hi there!
Hi guys! I'm Sweetie Bird, and if you already don't know who I am I am a journalist,
nerd,
burlesque dancer, and addicted to cute things,
asian culture in general,
and sweets!
You can see my performance videos
in my channel and the fancam ones in this playlist here.
Hummm, let's talk about 2012?
It was.... well...
I think all years are filled with highs and lows, let me see...
I'm no longer beta
(I've already passed the trial/test phase)
I took part in some very cool events like the burlesque intervention
promoted by Cavalera in the São Paulo Fashion Week
the Erotika Fair, and PopPorn Festival...
and I started shooting Cozinha ao Ponto for XPlastic.
I lost a few dear good friends
but I made others...
My collective, The Burlesque Takeover, grew, changed,
and is now *** awesome.
I put together a few workshops, well... we put together a few cool workshops.
I travelled a bit, lost weight, gained weight, meh...
I learned many new recipes, and I was on a couple TV Shows.
In the beginning of August
I got very sick
but thanks to my friends I am still here.
And much better.
I became single...
again...
and I also gave in to my desire to have colored hair, again,
and I finished my journalism college.Yay!
Well, I had the super cool experience of immersing myself
in Dudu Bertholini's life
to edit our coffee table book about him.
"The Tropical Dandi"
Thank you very much to my girls and to Dudu. It was awesome.
In 2013?
I'll talk about my new year resolutions some other time...
I am still working on them...
you know... whatever.
One of the things I really want to do is to shoot more videos
so that I can practice for Cozinha ao Ponto,
so that I can talk more to you guys,
and to lose my fear of looking at the camera.
Yeah, I'm afraid of looking at the camera. But not for photos.Which is obvious. Camwhore...
And when I had...
When I was interning at Maxim, I had a column called "Ask Sweetie"
so I thought... Oh!
I'll start by this! What do you think?
You ask me questions in my Ask.fm
(and there are all sorts of absurd questions)
and I answer the best. How about that?
Na? Oh, what to do?
Well, you can ask me ALMOST
anything. Ready? Go! Let me see...
"What is your next body mod?"
aishhhhhh...
There is so much I want to do.
Cute ink!
I think I already have enough jewelry spread throughout my body, so...
piercing, I want to apply just a microdermal and...
re pierce a few parts that closed.
But
the list of ink on my wishlist never stops growing.
I think I deserve my wings. At least my wings this next year. Well, I mean... now, right?
Next question...
"What are the best and the worst things about São Paulo?"
The best? Me! Ha! Dream on.
I think that the architectural richness and the fact that not only many old places in town are beautiful to walk around in
but that it's possible to walk around on foot. A city is made for pedestrians, not for the cars.
And the cultural diversity.
There is space in São Paulo for everything, everyone, for good and for bad.
and for bad.
We got everything here, and that is awesome.
The worst?
Traffic. Guys, for heavens sake..
Ride a bike, walk, use public transportation.
There are too many cars.
Aaaaaaaaand...
The cost of living.
Living here is even more expensive than living in New York so...aigoooooo
They also asked me
what I think about Dita Von Teese. Man... talking about Dita is cointreauversial...
I had the opportunity to see her show up close in 2009,
and it's beautiful. Amazing.
That is one hell of a set up.
And Dita was... well, is a person that is very valuable for the burlesque revival
ever since the beginning of the 1990s.
Without her,
without the fact that she married
Marilyn Manson,
neoburlesque wouldn't have been placed in such a obvious spot in mainstream media.
Honest. There are places in the world where burlesque is mainstream.
The downside is when people relate only Dita's style to burlesque. What she does is beautiful.
But she is a showgirl.
And... there are other styles out there besides hers that are more political, nerdier...
What she does is very commercial and sells easily,
she has a body type that pleases mass media,
that is easy to photograph,
and sometimes, maybe, that
is a disservice to burlesque because
some girls see that
or look for burlesque and think that "I can only dance,
I can only perform if I look like her", and it doesn't really work like that, right guys?
The coolest thing about neo burlesque is exactly this discussion and trasngression of
mass media approved body types and gender roles.
On the other hand, Dita has... does...
she has great marketing value for the "cause". So... yay!
I don't mirror her work, I have my muses,
but I don't criticize who mirrors and is inspired by her style, and who really loves
the work she does. She's awesome!
And that I can't deny.
Well, three questions... that's it, answered,
three are fine, right?
If you want me to answer your question, ask me something awesome on my Ask.Fm
...here...
and I'll answer it.
Where else can you find me?
Well, considering that
in 2013 I want to learn
many new things and write more... The Library! Study!
You can find me with The Burlesque Takeover
taking over spaces all over town,
and at Cozinha ao Ponto
doing all kinds of mischief in front of a stove... and of a camera, of course.
Ok. There's more, there's much more...
I'm, like, all over.
The link list is here in the video description box.
I guess that's it.
Komawo. Domo. Thank's for watching. And, well, the year is ending so...
Saehae bog manh-i bad-euseyo...
wait, again...
Best wishes for a Happy New Year.
Happy New Year. I look forward to our continued relationship over this year.
To all,
a Happy New Year and... gambatte! Hwaitting!
2013 is gonna be *** awesome! Annyeong! Mata-ne! Bye bye!
Bye bye!
