My name is Tamal Bhattacharya, on behalf of Expert Village. My subject today is making
liquid clay. You will need clay earth, talc and water. The addition of talc will help
make the surface smoother which is a better finish. Your finish will also be affected
by the type of clay you use. The chemical composition of clay varies from place to place.
Each region's clay minerals such as silicates are different; thus the earthen works from
Paris will not look like the earthen works of Spain. To begin, mix your dry ingredients.
Before adding water keep in mind how much density you need. Slowly add water to the
dry ingredients, mixing all the time. Continue mixing until fairly smooth. Use your hand
to scrape the sides of the bowl and break up any large lumps. Pour the mixture through
a fine strainer into a second bowl. Filtration is required for a finer granule and to lose
less particles. The clay is ready to use and you can start casting. Thank you.
