Educational guidelines by the Religious Authority, His Eminence, Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadlullah (ra)
Governments enact laws to prohibit hunting birds in their reproduction seasons, why?
Birds are an animal wealth that has an impact on man's, nutrition as well as agriculture and other aspects
If we suppose that during the breeding season everybody hunts
Hunting is mostly an act of whim, meaning that not all those who hunt do so for the birds' meat
Some do so for fun just as a child who has fun listening to the sounds of fireworks
In the same way, the hunter would enjoy the killing of an animal, feeling that he has achieved a victory
But, dear loved ones, in Islam hunting is only allowed when it is a means for getting food
Hunting for fun or as a kind of sports, since it includes running and the like, is prohibited according to some Hadiths
Some people simply hunt the birds and throw them away because they do not eat them
That is why Islam says that those who travel for fun hunting should perform their prayers in full, just as is the case with sinful traveling,
Why? Because Allah wants us to preserve the animal wealth
When you kill all the birds during their breeding season, this means that there would be no second generation of birds
Thus, in the third generation, they will become extinct and it would be that you have destroyed the birds' environment that complements all the other creations
That is why now in the world people do not hunt birds only, but all animals as well
People here mostly hunt for fun, while in other places they hunt for fur that is expensive and would be worn by stars and celebrities or hunt elephants for their ivory, and the like
Now the governments are enacting very harsh laws to ensure that these animals are not eradicated, for they are also a part of the living environment,
Every animal has its own singularity, even the predators
and even insects in the fields, which may have a role in killing other harmful insects, and thus saving the crops
