~ Meditation Techniques: Go Beyond the Mind ~
Meditation is the highest state of consciousness. It is called enlightenment.
Meditation is also a technique for going beyond the mind, to experience that state.
The 112 meditation techniques have the same essential element -- witnessing. All other methods are a variation of one of them.
Six notable techniques: Tantra, Vipassana, Zazen, Anapanasati, Metta, and Walking.
Tantra is a mystical path. The tantrika seeks sacred union or Hieros Gamos.
Physical, mental and emotional love is union with your partner. Spiritual love is union with the beyond.
Each individual has an inner female and an inner male, a balanced polarity called Yin and Yang.
The climax is a moment of no-mind and no-time when the inner female and inner male merge into One.
*** cosmic *** is the only natural method to enlightenment. This led to the discovery of meditation.
Vipassana, a.k.a. insight meditation, was taught by Buddha to his disciples. Its focus alternates between an object and no object.
Zazen is just sitting, doing nothing. There is no object of focus and no activity to do.
Anapanasati is watching the in-breath, gap, out-breath, gap. Buddha taught this to his disciples and used this method himself.
Metta means loving-kindness. It is unconditional, inclusive and unlimited.
Learn to forgive ů and get a life! These spiritual moments lead to health, creativity and happiness.
Walking: To avoid stiffness, Buddha sat for one hour, then walked in meditation for one hour, alternating all day.
Each meditator may try any method that appeals to him or her and find what works best by personal experience.
Meditate sometime every day. Eventually, extend your meditation throughout the day.
Three types of path: Activity (yoga), Surrender (devotion), and Discipline (meditation). For best results, do not mix paths.
To know your self and be your self, go within, beyond the mind, to the innermost center of being.
