1960's attire, this is a nice easy look out of your own closet, the beatnik era was very
known during the 60's and is very simple to do. A simple turtleneck will get you a long
way towards that beatnik attire, slacks or jeans are always a great fit for the beatnik
as well as you always want a little bit of the medallion necklace action, something around
the neck to bring it in. You could also do a vest as well but we chose the bling here.
You'll also want to bring in a great kind of bold style hair cut. There is a few different
hair style looks that you could do for a beatnik good mens' look but this week here this actually
happens to be the Sonny style wig so you can see how that works out kind of well, some
kind of beret cap worn appropriately would be the style for the man. Facial hair can
go a long way here as well for a good beatnik look. Very simply done, very low budget. Do
take note that if you have a half boot to choose from those kind of shoes are best for
beatnik attire. And to finish off a beatnik look a pair of glasses, round rimmed are more
preferred. There are square and rectangle shapes as well but the round is more period
and better looking for the beatnik look. Another nice easy 1960's attire look of course is
the hippie. We are going to follow a little bit more of the Jimmy Hendrix feel of the
1960's here. Very easily done with African style shirt here. You could also use shirts
from Mexico or Columbia or Indian style shirts and any of those style ethnic shirts are all
going to be great for hippie style as well as of course adding those love beads. You
can't go wrong with love beads. Those can be purchased or made easily enough by simply
collecting some fimo clay and rolling up little balls and adding strings, holes to it to string
along on a string making some great love beads for you as well as the peace sign is a simple
fix at home with some aluminum foil and cardboard if you don't have access to any peace bling
and such for your hippie attire. As well you'll want to notice the moccasins are a good choice
for shoes as well as leather sandals things of that nature are all good hippie shoe attire.
You can't go wrong with a pair of jeans. Men were cutting them very short and wearing them
kind of rough and that is also a good look. Not quite for Jimmy Hendrix style but it can
work very well for a hippie. As well you can also add things like leather vests. Those
work great as hippie attire, the more fringe the better, of course love beads and feathers
and all of those are all great accessories for your hippie. You'll want to finish off
your attire with some great hippie hair and that can be achieved many ways. If your hair
is past an inch on your ear that technically qualifies for long hair during the 60's. See
you do a simple push forward motion with the hair and wear it kind of in your face or you
can add a long haired wig something with some nice length. You could also add some braids
to it, add some beads and feathers to really give it a great hippie attire. In this case
a wonderful afro. You'll want to make sure that you put your wig on correct. It is very
easy to put the afros on backwards so you want to make sure that the back of the neck's
lip is visible and your side firm pieces are to the side. Applying your wig on correctly
is very important and of course like all wigs they can be adjusted from the inside. Your
afros very often get dented up so you will want to make sure they are puffed up correctly
and then of course making sure of visibility is always a good thing with your afro. If
you sweat or the hair being in your eyes is a problem a headband here is a wonderful accessory
that can be added as well and of course to finish off all hippie attire, some great glasses
and the round Beatle styles of course are very appropriate. Another great things to
add to it to show up with your bag of oregano and your cooked brownies are all great accessories
to go with your hippie.
