It's very important to keep life pretty much the same old routine for the cats that already
live in your household even when you're getting a new cat. So, you want to make sure that
they have their same little condos and climby areas, that their getting the same amount
of attentions from you, that their food and water is the same. That everything pretty
much stays the same for them otherwise they are going to get upset and out of sorts. Remember
they can already smell the new cat both through the doorway where the new cat is living and
also on you from when you go in to feed and socialize your new cat. So, you want that
new smell and the new sounds coming from that room to pretty much be the only thing that
changes, so that they can have time to adjust to the new member of their household. Some
cats do not like to have new cats introduced so you want to make sure the transition is
as smooth as possible for the ones who already live there, so they don't feel threatened
of uncomfortable.
