Pentek ECP5-10 Hey everyone, Aquaman here with FilterDoctor.com.
Today we’re looking at the Pentek ECP5-10. This cartridge is a 5 micron, pleated cellulose
sediment removal cartridge. Five microns is approximately 5 times smaller than a speck
of milled flour, so you’re going to capture a great deal of microscopic sediment with
a cartridge like this. Now Pentek uses a special resin impregnated
cellulose that has polyester fibers in it, which gives it greater strength, and in the
long run greater durability. Now the one drawback of cellulose filters
is that you can not use them on untreated water sources because this media is not bacteriostatic.
Bacteria could live and grow on this media if you had any in your water, so you want
to be sure you’re using this on a treated water source. Something that’s chlorinated,
ozonated, uv’ed or otherwise you know that the bacteria has been killed before it gets
to this filter cartridge. Now Pentek uses almost six square feet of
media in this cartridge, whereas their competitors typically use only four and a half feet of
media. So you’ve got more media which equals greater flow, and higher holding capacity
and longer filter life as compared to their competitors.
This is the Pentek ECP5-10, and I’m your host Aquaman with FilterDoctor.com.
Thanks for watching.
