With the wheel going at a moderate speed and filling the sponge up with water, wetting
both sides of the piece, and then using the sponge on the top third of the piece, coddling
it in procedure begins and you are contacting the clay at six points, one, two, three, one,
two, three at the top third of the piece. What we are doing is closing in the top third
and this step is repeated a few times closing it in a little bit each time, applying water
when necessary. As you are coddling it in try to keep the round part opening as symmetrical
as possible and that means that you are using equal pressure in this part of the forming
operation.
