Pockets can be created in a variety of sizes
and shapes. For these cards we will want them to be about
3-inches wide so they will fit nicely inside
the card. The height
depends what you're planning on putting in them.
I'd like to put a tea bag in one and I'd like
it to be visible once it's in the
pocket. So I'm going to make this pocket about
2 inches high so that the top of the
tea bag will stick out.
Since the tea bag
is a little bit short and a lot of empty white space
would show, I'm going to adhere a piece of
yellow patterned paper
inside the card
and so it will be tucked under
the pocket
to make that look a little bit nicer.
And this pocket is a little boring
so I'm going to make a stripe
or a strip of striped paper
to adhere to it, and I'm going to
add that before I adhere
the pocket because I may need to trim it.
And it would be hard to trim it once it's adhered inside.
Now I've applied adhesive
to the bottom and sides only
and I'll adhere inside
my card and I'm going to lift up in
and center with my finger just a little bit as I
adhere it so there will be a little bit of space in there
to let my tea bag
rest in there very nicely. Remember,
pockets don't have to be square. I want
to put a tag in the other pocket, so I cut a 3-
inch wide piece of pink cardstock on a diagional
to create a fun pocket. I'll also add a strip of
striped paper to dress this one up a bit.
Just like the other one. And I'm
going to adhere that before I adhere my pocket
down just in case I need to trim
again. I applied adhesive just on three sides
and I can put a nice little note on the tag.
Have some fun creating different
shaped pockets and embellishing them with paper,
stamped images-you name it.
