We are a Dr. Watson's Odditorium in Oceanside, California. Steam punk, from what I gather...because
it's based on Science Fiction, it's kind of an
amalgamation of different styles that emanate from the turn of the century, late 1800s to
early 1900s.
And, you have everything from your traditional Victorian wear, to a more gothy edge kind
of look, to a more wild, or old Western look.
You can drop some coin here. Like the guy that just came in here and bought himself
a pair a pants, a vest and a hat, he ended up spending about $300 on that. They'll come
in and every time there's a steampunk event, they'll come in and just drop the cash.
But the great thing is, the people that are maybe on the lower end of the spectrum financially,
they usually make all their own stuff, so I really appreciate that. That's why one reason
we like to show off artists too, is because these are the
people that have taken the time to put into the creativity themselves and said, 'huh,
I'm kind of good at this; I want to share this with other people.' I can definitely
appreciate the aesthetic, and it's beautiful, and it's so...
I don't know, it just makes you think why don't people dress like this anymore?
