My name is Gemma Grundy and I've studied the Foundation Degree in Education for
Teaching Assistants.
Which I did at the Leek site, the University centre there
I decided to do it there because
I wanted to be a teaching assistant and so I went in and spoke
to them there,
and they sort of
guided me into this area
and what to do and I started doing my level 2
and then was advised that I should do
my foundation degree
I think the highlight of the whole things was
just all of it really, I really enjoyed it
and the course was suited to me
with having a child
as well.
This was just one evening a week and then a
placement in a school
two days in the week so it all suited me.
Well if someone was starting the course just don't go into it thinking it's going to be a doddle
it's not that easy
you do have to get your head down, you do have to work hard.
But try and balance your life
don't just think about this all of the time
you need to get the right balance there
but today I've had a fantastic day, it's just a
good opportunity to meet up with
everyone who you've studied with and let your hair down
have a bit of fun, the weathers been great,
got family and friends around you to support you and it's just been a really good experience
and a great way to top it all off
after three years of very hard work
