So just to go through what the SR60 light rail transit alignment looks like.
We are going to be extending from the Eastside Extension, which is on 3rd and Pomona,
and extending that further east, actually going along the south side of SR60 Freeway.
currently have identified four station locations. The Washington Boulevard LRT
is actually going to be using the -- starting from the Eastside Extension on 3rd and -- Atlantic and Pomona.
However, the thing that is different is that we will be using Garfield Boulevard
hitting Washington Boulevard and going -- connecting the Cities of Montebello, Pico Rivera, and lastly, City of Whittier.
And for this particular alternative, we have six stations that are currently identified.
The project development process. As I mentioned, for two years, we've studied like 47 alternatives.
Now we're in the draft environmental.
This is where all the serious work actually begins, where we will hopefully be able to
address some of the community concerns and environmental concerns that may be raised tonight.
And this -- we are proposing that this phase will be about two years long.
And one thing that we often tell the residents or the audience members,
because we often get questions about, well, are you going to start construction tomorrow,
it actually take seven to ten years
If we're lucky with all the funding,
no legal battles, everyone is happy, it takes about seven to 10 years to build. So just keep that in mind.
And during the draft environmental, this is what we'll be focusing our efforts on:
Looking at possible significant impact in the community
and how we can try to mitigate that or avoid that as much as possible.
The purpose of the draft environmental, as I mentioned,
is to look at the potential effects of this particular light rail system.
So we will be looking at construction, operation impact in the community,
as well as trying to find mitigation measures for the communities that may be impacted
by this alternative or the project.
We'll also be looking at further refining the alternatives.
As I mentioned, SR60, we have proposed it to end on Peck, but we've heard comments
that it may be extended. So that's something that's a possibility for us to look at
during the draft environmental process
