A lot of teachers have
solutions that work
with different students. So when they work together,
other teachers benefit from the skills of their colleagues. We changed our class
periods from seven periods to eight periods. And that, we had a chance to get
grade levels to work together as well as subject areas to work together. We
normally have faculty meetings every Tuesday.
So I had to
give up my faculty meetings, so that
teachers could have that additional time
to work in groups. I had to
look at what teachers we're collaborating on. We bought a
program called Brainchild
also brought a program called Renzouli,
and we looked at
how teachers could get data,
quick data, to look at
particular skills too
work on
strategies across grade level and across subject areas.
We also had them collaborate on student data, it's in terms of discipline,
referrals, attendence. Also
helped to identifiy other people that could facilitate PLC's, such as
teachers who were
very very good at demonstrating different strategies.
