Welcome in the kitchen of
The recipe of today is: GINGERBREAD COOKIES
So, this the cookies compound I was talking about some weeks ago.
I've bought another one, but today I'm gonna show you this one.
In the package there are the mix of flours, icing sugar for the glaze
and the gingerbread man mold.
It's really easy to cook it, you find all the instructions on the package.
In this case, I've to add just 1 egg and 100 g of unsalted butter.
And you find the steps on the back of the pack.
First, pour the mixing fllour in a bowl.
hen, add the butter. Use both egg and butter at room temperature.
I cut the butter in little pieces.
Separate the egg white from the yolk.
Don't throw away the egg white, it's for the glaze.
So, add the yolk.
Let's start mix it. First with a spoon, to break a bit the butter and the yolk.
Then using my hands in the bowl.
Finally, mixing on a worktop.
Mix it well and after 10-15 minutes
the dough will be smooth and homogeneous.
The butter will be well mixed with the flour.
Once it's ready, place the dough ball in the bowl and cover it with plastic wrap.
Let it rest for 30 minutes in the fridge.
After 30 minutes, pull it out of the fridge.
Using a bit of plain flour on the worktop and on the rolling pin
start to rolling out the dough.
Don't make it too thin, about half a centimeter.
It's up to your preferences, but make all the cookies with the same thickness.
Let's cut our cookies!
I didn't use just man molds, but also angel and star molds. Still Xmas shapes!
Then, using a knife for raising the cookies
place them on a baking tin covered with baking paper.
Bake them at 180°C (350°F) for 15-20 minutes.
I baked them in static oven for 20 minutes: perfect!
Meanwhile, let's prepare the glaze.
Put the icing sugar in a bowl.
Add little by little the egg white.
I'm gonna use a liquid dye, so
before adding all the necessary egg white, I added the dye.
So I saw how much egg white I should added.
At the end I used half of the egg white.
The final consistency should be this one.
Pour the glaze in a sac à poche.
Once brought out and cooled the cookies, they are ready to be decorated.
The decoration is up to you.
I decorated the edges with the glaze.
And I used the remained egg white as a glue
to place some colour decorations.
