ROBIN CASS>>>This year in the glass program we decided to focus on inviting artists that
embrace both utilitarian design and conceptual sculpture in their work. So, Kathy fits perfectly
into that group. She's really well respected for her glass blowing skills but her sculptural
installations.
ORION BECKER>>>She's a great artist and it's wonderful to have somebody who can combine
techniques and form making in a conceptual way that can really help me learn to make
new forms that I never thought I could make into my work.
MEADBHBH MCLLGORM>>>She's really involved. She's doing demos and critiques. She has really
good technical blowing skills so it's exciting to see that in the hot shop. To be able to
have her advise you on different techniques, we are learning a lot, and it's great to have
that opportunity as well.
KATHY GRAY>>>Oh, they're awesome. They've been great. They are really really keen — really
attentive. There's varying levels so certainly some students are really, really skilled.
Some students can probably make things better than I can make them. There's other students
who are just starting to see some of these things for the first time that may be broadening
their horizons in terms of what they think they want to do with the materials.
KATHY GRAY>>>There's quite the range of what people gravitate to in terms of their own
ideas and what they want to do with the material. That's always interesting to me. They're pretty
high caliber students here. It's like talking to peers when you're meeting with them to
discuss their work.
