South Korea's Deputy National Security Adviser Cho Tae-yong has just made an official statement
regarding North Korea's fifth nuclear test, condemning Pyongyang.
The following is the speech from the presidential office in full, which Cho gave a couple of
hours ago.
Let's take a look.
"The North Korean regime must realize that it will gain nothing by focusing on developing
its nuclear weapons, all the while ignoring the plight of the North Korean people."
If North Korea continues such provocative actions, it will receive further sanctions
from the international community and will eventually walk down a path of self destruction.
The South Korean goverment demands that North Korea immediately stop its nuclear weapons
and missile program, and it will also make sure we can work together with the international
community and the UN Security Council to enhance its measures against the regime.
"
The government has also stressed that it will respond to any provocation with absolute precision
and strong determination.
