Hey there, this is a simple recipe of a body cream
I will show you how to make the emulsifier practically and if you follow me you can also do it by yourself
Preparing a cream practically is very easy,
but if you want to formulate a cream you absolutely have to study theory
In my videos I will also explain a little bit of theory
The cream consists of 3 parts
A) aqueous phase: water, flower water, glycerin and all water soluble ingredients
usually using the ingredients of this part and adding a gelificant agent we make a gel
B) oil phase: oils, butters, wax, emulsifiers
C) active ingredients and all ingredients witch should not be warmed up
warm up A phase and B phase at 70 degrees Celsius and mix them for emulsifier: this is the base cream
when the base cream reached the 40 degrees Celsius add the actives and all ingredients witch should not be warmed up
for the choice of the ingredients and specially for the oils you need to study theory
for example, each oil has a different density and a good cream needs at least one oil of
any type of density ( light oil- medium oil- heavy oil- butter- wax...)
I will make another video and I will explain in more detail about all this
For the moment you just follow me, do exactly what I do and you can make it!
You must weigh all raw materials in grams (liquids, powders, butters...)
Make at least 100 g of cream and use a blender (minipimer)
using this type of blender it is impossible to make less than 100g
There is someone who uses another type of blender, smaller, like the drink mixer we use here in Greece to make Greek Frappe-coffee
I don't recommend this small blender, because it makes a mixture with air bubbles
To avoid air bumbles you should use a blender like minipimer
and you should put it down, turn it on and not moving it
I will use vitamins, aloe gel, allantoin...
Let's get started, ciao
Sterilize the tools with boiling water and alcohol
and use these tools only for making cosmetics
A) aqueous phase: prepare a gel
add the xanthan gum to the glycerin and stir
use a glass to weight the water and use the spoon for most precise measuring
add a little bit of distilled water and stir
then add more water and stir proceed this way until all of the water is finished
B) oil phase: in a glass put Jojoba oil,Almond oil,Grapeseed Oil,Shea Butter,Emulsifier (OLIVEM 1000),Tocorherol (Vitamin E)
warm up at 70 degrees Celsius: A) aqueous phase in microwave
(if you don't have a thermometer warm up for approximately 1-2 minute,
when you touch the backer it has to be hot and steaming)
If you don't have a microwave you can warm it up in a double boiler
warm up at 70 degrees Celsius: B) oil phase in a double boiler
(if you don't have a thermometer warm up until all ingredients are melted, it mustn't boil)
First put the oil phase in a double boiler and when it is almost done you can put the aqueous phase in the microwave
To emulsifier we have to mix them both at 70 degrees So when the aqueous phase is really hot and streaming and the oil phase is melted we can proceed
Mix A) aqueous phase with the blander Add a half of the B) oil phase and stir again
Add the rest of B) oil phase and stir again
use the blender without moving it, just put it down and turn it on
If you want to stir use the spoon
This is the base cream, it will become more dense with time, even the day after
prepare the C) phase:Panthenol, aloe gel, Allantoin
stir very well
Add the oil of Lemon
when the base cream reached the 40 degrees Celsius Add the C) phase to the base cream and stir
Add Preservative (cosgard) and stir
Measure the ph (it is 6.5-7.0)
Decrease the ph by using 3 drops of lactic acid measure again
repeat until reached the 5.5ph and stir using the blender
Add the Lemon Essential Oil and stir again
