How much fabric do I need? Because I don't want to buy too much when I go to the store.
Well, if I'm going to make one without sleeves, I simply double the dimension of my upper
thigh. I happen to know the dimension of my upper thigh is twenty-four inches, so that
means I need forty-eight inches of material. That's one yard and one foot. Now if I'm going
to add sleeves to that, I need the dimension of my upper bicep, which is on my arm is fifteen
inches, and I'm going to add a little more to make some room in the armpit, so make it
eighteen inches. So forty-eight plus eighteen, so I'm looking at about sixty-six, you knew
that already, didn't you? Sixty-six inches to make a unitard, but if I'm going to cut
it on the bias, now I'm going to tilt the entire pattern sideways and I'm going to need
about one-third more, about ninety-six inches. So if you want to save time and money, don't
cut it on the bias.
