Hey, how's it going?
Well, um. I want to speak
about, ah, something I I've experienced
throughout four years right now
I, um, I'm not American
I'm from another country. I don't know if you could tell by my accent
but I I came here four years ago
from Chile in South America you know that
really long country that's right next to Argentina
and I came here
in October of 2009 I
with no... I knew no English at all
and um, I wanna
you know just make a video on my experience you know, there's...
there might be people out there that, um, need to hear some words
who are trying to learn a new language and
so it all began in you know 2009
my dad had been here in the United States for about 10 years
l was living in my
sisters and my mom and
my life in Chile was pretty good. It was not bad at all
My dad would send money to my country. My mom
mom took a lot care of me really well. I went to a good school but there was point where my dad just wanted
to, you know
send us to the United States, and, um
live together
cause my parents weren't separated or anything we were still all together as a family
we were just separated by distance, So...
Yeah, my dad started the process to get my paperwork done
and, um, it all went actually pretty well. It took a long time to get my, ah
my residence and so I got it
in in early 2009 we had to wait a couple
a couple months before actually traveling to the United States
but came time where
okay my dad told us everything's done I have the
tickets and it's time to come, man.
so I was pretty excited
I used to skateboard a lot
you know the United States is the
the capital skateboarding
That was the thing the thing that was driving me to
to just come to the United States and learn a
and meet skaters and whatever so I was really excited to come to the united states so
the day came
it was really sad when I left my family
Um, I think anybody that's come to the United States
leaving their family back at home it's, um,
you know so was a sad a
you know a sad moment so um
we left and I came here to the United States
a specifically New Jersey new jersey is where we live in a
and so yeah New Jersey
and they put me in school right away
I thought the first day ish that I came here I thought it was all gonna
be
straight up English. like I was not going to understand anything
and pretty much it was like that, kind of...
I'm there were some there are some Spanish people or near
and they do they have the
a bilingual program forearm
you know she will that do not speak English
and the the help you a lot with the
with how you should learn a new language
language so I came here they put me in school
I started taking and I started my freshman year in high school here
and it was actually going pretty well
I the class a-2 were all in Spanish
even though it was a school data spoke
mainly English I N you know to speak Spanish that's my first language
but that doesn't have anything to do
so um so we started taking
English I E I started shake link dish
a.m. you know observing what people did
she was a hit behaviors how some people would react
in this environment in which was very closed for the bilingual people
and I started to see okay a
well who are the people that are actually learning
and are not just you know having a good time I'm not have nothing wrong
there's nothing wrong with having a good time I love having good time but
you know I was a determine to the learned his new language
and I really want to do it so hours
observing where to go or who to go to any
to learn english show I realize that there are some people that
newsday since then new English but you know they didn't really
tried a perfect perfected too much they just
you know they were rigged with them however they spoke it
and there was some other people that aren't
that actually had a little bit more for drive
towards learning this language sorry about the late answer
system lamp that out there so IFE
a estar dissociating myself with the people that I i fell had
hired ride two words you know
achieving that goal well learning english
in a
see how would a I would say that if you if you want to learn english
associate yourself to people that have the same
drive issue they went to the same thing
and the that'll help ya
also once you start it um
interacting with these people the
started serving what they do and emit heat
whatever they do and when you fail I whatever they did
there but today it didn't work for you next any do it
make sure that our you fixed whatever it was that made you fail
in a star observing what the natives do
how they speak how they move their turn how they pronounce
every freakin letter in the word
and that'll help me a lot cuz I'm not saying I have the best accent but
I a lot of people tell me they came in here an accident
so if you are if you wanna have
that kind of experience I'm telling you from a perve
personal and do you start seeing
in hearing every little detail where do when a person
with an when a native says it and you know
in your hedges keep saying it's a saying it's a
saying it in saying it and after
you can a-league grasped every
little detail the word
star saying it physically with the with sound with your tongue
induced low do it better know whatever word I'll
lacrosse and just keep sayin lacrosse
lacrosse slow slow and slow
until you get it I know it'll be a
a lot of friggin words are you gonna have to do
but dats at these what worked for me
show our I hope to in needy put some more videos up
in a yet just observe whatever people do
in a socio yourself with people that are
driven to wear the same policy data on
get you to where you wanna be
