Hi! This is Karen for Expert Village. Now I will show you how to prepare pants for a
cuffed hem. Have the person try on the pants to the length they want it and just pin it.
Then again we will just likely press just to crease a mark so that we will know where
that length is and we can remove our pins and we will turn the pants inside out. Okay.
Turn it inside out. Now our cuff is going to be about an inch and half cuff. I am removing
all of our pins and the edge is marked by the creasing. We want about an inch and half
cuff so we are going to pull the fabric, measure an inch and half and I'll mark with a pin,
measure an inch and half here and mark it with a pen like that; about 3 on that side
and then flip it over and about 3 on this side.
An inch and half from the bottom to the end and then slide the fold down to the pants.
So now the pants are folded right to the edge of the pins and they are an inch and half
longer than you want them. Make sure all the material is flat and there is no bulkiness
or folds there besides this one fold. Then press that, press it a lot with steam so that
it has a nice crease.
Press it and remove the pins; those are your marking pins. Remove those pins and then press
it again just to make sure it is good. Okay now we will be sewing this down here. I am
going to flip it back so that you can see how we will fold up the cuff so it is right
side out and now we are going to fold up one and half inch extra to make the cuff and then
we will press that. So you can measure it again if you are not sure and then press that
cuff.
Use a good steam iron to get a nice crisp pressing and there is your cuff.
