I recently met with a patient who had been on the prescription drug Plavix for a number
of years to prevent heart attacks and strokes. Plavix is known as an anti-palate drug and
it’s intended to prevent clotting in the body, which can ultimately lead to heart attacks
and strokes. This patient came to me because he had suffered from a number of gastro-intestinal
bleeds. After being on the drug for a number of years, he found that he was vomiting blood
and passing blood through his ***. He had to visit the emergency room, he was in the
hospital for over 4 days, and he had to receive blood transfusions and it was a very difficult
course and a painful course, and an overall miserable time for him. This happened not
only once but twice. He was hospitalized a second time, several months later, for approximately
5 days the second time around for a similar course. Gastro-intestinal bleeding and the
need for blood transfusions. Ultimately, the drug Plavix was stopped when it was realized
that the physicians, that that was what was causing the bleeds. If you’ve been diagnosed
with any kind of bleeding event, whether it’s a stomach bleed, a gastro-intestinal bleed,
bleeding in your brain – give me a call. I answer these types of questions all the
time and I can help you out. Again, my name is Dan Burke. I’m a lawyer at Parker Waichman
in New York. Thanks for taking the time to listen.
