Hi, I'm Amanda Stretton, and I'm here to offer you a guided tour of the new 2014 Lexus CT
200h.
On sale now, this is the most exciting, appealing version of the top selling CT yet. It mixes
sporty looks with a fuel-efficient hybrid engine and luxurious new interior.
And there's more -- new CT is more competitively priced than ever, and like its predecessor,
is sure to prove a hit with customers. HERE'S WHY...
There are six versions to choose from, including a new "Advance" model -- and this dramatic
looking F Sport.
Add to that, entry-level S and SE, plus flagship Premier and Luxury editions, and you can see
why the line up is described as the strongest ever offered.
Data from independent owner reviews, gathered by Reevoo, shows customers award the previous
version of the CT top marks for quality, comfort and performance...
This new version promises even more, with a series of improvements to the car's design,
engineering, handling and performance.
Importantly, Lexus own customers played a big part in helping decide exactly how those
changes would be delivered...
...Lexus engineers spent time with owners and drivers -- absorbing their suggestions,
criticisms and requests.
This feedback has been carefully built into the new car, leading to some significant improvements
- inside and out.
Customers said they wanted a space saver spare wheel -- So it's been added....
But when it comes to improvements, perhaps most obvious is this new spindle grille - CT
is the last model in the range to get the Lexus spindle grille - its appearance here
means that for the first time Lexus' acclaimed design language is now integrated across its
There's a new rear bumper, while new F Sport has a bolder appearance than ever before...
...I really like the shark fin antenna gives and this dynamic looking rear spoiler.
Hill Assist control is also included as standard across all grades. So is a Tyre Pressure warning
system. Safety remains a top priority, so all versions of CT are fitted with stability
control.
...Customers said they wanted a second NON-metallic colour -- so Lexus added a great looking solid
Fuji Red.
Inside, there's a new-look steering wheel - and instrument dials - plus new trim, switchgear
and an upgraded gearshift lever...
...There are no less than eight airbags as standard, and for gadget fans, the Lexus Media
system has been improved and given extra functions, including standard DAB, enhanced hands-free
and voice recognition capabilities.
There's a new Rotary Remote Touch Controller on selected models. And, there's a more Premium
slim-line multimedia screen.
Practicality is strong, and there's a spacious boot and plenty of room for driver and passengers.
Improving comfort and refinement has also been a top priority, with Lexus engineers
delivering no fewer than 94 improvements.
By changing the updating engine and gearbox, they've cut cabin noise by 50%. I've driven
the new and old car back-to-back and the improvement is really impressive.
The bodyshell had been made even stronger, thanks to new laser welding technology and
advanced super adhesives.
What's more, the team has retuned the suspension and optimised Electric Power Steering: the
result is smooth, quiet, responsive driving.
These changes deliver levels of premium quietness and refined luxury that customers have come
to expect of Lexus cars. But there's more. ..
Engineers have also improved the CT's segment-leading CO2 credentials. With 15 inch alloys, new
CT emits just 82g of CO2 per km.
And remember, new legislation on car emissions include a focus on nitrous oxides and particulate
matter -- something that's going to be a real challenge for diesels. So it's important to
point out that CT also leads on NOx and particulates.
It's all part of Lexus focus on cost and value for money... In this segment, competitive
monthly payments are incredibly important. So, Lexus has also structured very appealing
*** and Contract hire rates.
Equipment levels are generous too. New Advance has at least £4,500 worth of spec advantage
over the competition and it has £1,000 more spec than old Advance, including smart entry,
DAB and seat heaters.
It also has new alloy wheels, parking sensors and a better navigation system.
There's absolutely no doubt this car is a winner when it comes to direct product comparisons.
It's being described as the most accessible Lexus ever made -- with levels of luxury and
refinement no segment competitor can match.
I'm excited by it and I think you will be too...
