Hi everyone! My name is Sylvia and I
live in Barcelona. Seven months ago I started a
DIY fashion blog called Dare to DIY
Since then, some of my readers encouraged me
to start explaining my DIYs in videos
So today I'm starting this YouTube channel with
one of my favorite DIYs I've ever done, which is my chameleon bag
If you know my blog you might have already seen it
But I thought this was a good project to make a videotutorial
because it's a very versatile bag: you can change its color
whenever you want.
You don't even need a sewing machine or any sewing skills
As you can see it's a clear plastic clutch bag
Its main piece has two layers
Here in between you can put pictures, drawings, pieces of fabric...
And just in a few seconds you can change the color of your bag
and put whatever that matches your outfit
So I think it might be so useful for most of you guys
You don't need special skills...
If you want to learn how to make it, just keep on watching this video
You'll need two clear plastic sheets (size A3)...
two plastic pieces for the sides (6cm width)
a lace or some wool, and a magnetic closure
Take the pieces to the bookbinding store and get them drilled
on all the sides but one
Cut rounded the bottom of the side pieces
and mark some drilling points around the curve
Burn a pin with a lighter and make the holes
Use a knitting needle or a pencil to make the holes bigger
Cut the plastic remnant for an accurate finish
Sew the pieces with the lace
Once you get to the folding point of the flap, attach one side
The measurements of the sides
are totally up to you
The sides I'm using are 6 x 12 cm
Put the magnetic closure before attaching the other side
To make the magnet stronger and prevent the plastic tearing
put two pieces like these on the magnet
Now, just keep on sewing until the end of your bag
