One thing I wish I knew when I was 18...
...is that friendships are actually really important.
They're far more important than work
Don't ever put work ahead of your friendships.
There were times when I was a freshman or sophomore when I would stay in and do work
when I could have pushed it a bit earlier or later, and hung out with friends instead.
And I kind of regret that because those are more opportunities to spend time with people my age.
Like, at that age, work is not a huge factor.
When you grow older, work is going to become your life. I mean, that's depressing.
No, it's not going to become your life entirely, [there are definitely options to hang out with friends]
But, as an eighteen-year-old, you have far more time to hang out with your friends, so you should use that wisely.
I'm not saying you shouldn't work at all; you should definitely work.
And there are times in your college career or your life
where there'll be crunch moments where you actually have to work.
But, aside from those moments, if you can push your work ahead, or finish it before you hang out with friends,
or push it after, make sure you do that.
Also, make sure that when you do hang out with friends, you have a camera with you.
I'm not condoning that you use the camera for any creepy purposes.
I am condoning, however, that you use the camera to take a log of your activities with your friends.
Or, if you too lazy to carry one, at least ensure someone in your group has one,
so when they put it on Facebook, you can download it and store it till later.
Aside from that, friendships are definitely important
and don't lose really good friends.
Thankfully, I haven't yet...
...but I do wish I that I had hung out with them a lot more when I was 18.
