Some of the most common causes of foot pain that I see in the office are typically affected
with the nails. Some of the biggest things we see, especially with guys, are ingrown
toenails.
An ingrown toenail is when the nail border actually penetrates the skin, typically resulting
in pain and infection.
Some other conditions we commonly see are onychomycosis, which is a fungal toenail,
athlete's foot infections, which is a fungal infection of the actual skin.
Corns and calluses are another big thing that we see in the office. Corns and calluses are
due to excessive pressure from shoes usually on some type of a structural deformity.
Heel pain is also one of the biggest things we see in the office, the most common of which
is plantar fasciitis. Bunions, hammer toes, tailor's bunions are also all deformities
of the front of the foot and result in pain particularly when wearing shoes.
There are a wide variety of things that can cause pain to the foot. Those are the top
ones that I usually see in the office. If you are experiencing pain, don't suffer. Come
see your podiatrist, and we can help.
