>> When I had a doctor in New Orleans, and he told me, he said,
your numbers are not looking good.
He said, so you may have to get on the machine.
But before he could do that Katrina came, so I ended up here.
And my daughter got me a Nephrologist, Dr. Alex, and he told me the first blood he drew,
he said, eventually you're going to be on the machine.
I talked to new patients and I tell them all, I said, I tell them about the machine
because I know that's an artificial kidney right there.
That's where my blood is going through.
But I tell them, I said, to be successful on this machine, you have to follow your diet.
You have to follow your diet.
And your water intake because your kidneys are not working
like they usually would when they were good.
So I tell them, I said, when you're coming here, come here with a positive attitude.
You know that this machine is saving my life.
So I'm living today because of this machine.
I have a good life.
I feel very blessed that I could be this old and be on here, because this is the life saver.
I wouldn't be here today if I didn't have this.
So this is my lifeline.
This is my lifeline.
