WHATEVER IT TAKES
So I used to play soccer in the backyard with my brother and two cousins.
Those games were probably some of the most heated of my life.
I used to hate losing that's for sure.
I guess all my earliest memories and when I was a child my football career was here
The school I was at, a few teachers every now and then were like "What are you going to do?"
I just said, "Play football" and they were like "Yeh, but really, what are you going to do?"
I was like, "Yeah, play football!"
THREE YEARS LATER
The first time I was here was actually the day I signed,
The gaffer gave me a bit of a tour around the place.
I walked out here and I guess got my first taste or experience of what it's like to be at Celtic Park.
Our home ground is something that is very special,
I think the atmosphere that's created there is one of the best in the world.
Everyone knows the Green Brigade. Yeh up there in that corner there
And this is the little away section here, which you don't tend to hear too much.
I guess the whole mentality of the fans is different over here and different to what I'm used to.
It really is more than just a game to a lot of them, which I find great.
I feel very fortunate to be able to play football here
It's been an amazing couple of years for me and hopefully I can keep progressing
You know, you go to a new place, a new club and It's hard not to be nervous.
I had a few good words with the gaffer,
You know, they said that they'd done their homework and that they know what I could do
And just to relax
It's a really good bunch of lads which, for me, coming to such a big club I didn't know whether to expect that or not.
The accent isn't an issue for me anymore, but you still come across the odd really strong one which
Sometimes I just smile and nod.
Coming in, in January, it was obviously good to be part a of the squad that won the league and cup double
But, at the same time you do want to contribute more as a player
Every footballer wants to play every game, wants to play as much as they can
But, at the same time, I'm quite realistic with my goals
I understand coming in to a very settled squad in January is going to taking a little bit of time to work my way in to
I want to improve all aspects of my game, there's a lot of things to work on and
I'm confident i'm in the right environment to do that.
I understand and know that this year is very important and a big year in my career, so I think that's exciting.
I know that If I continue working hard and have the right attitude then my opportunity will come.
And then it's just a matter of taking it and seizing my chance.
The past few years have been great, and I've obviously enjoyed it But I feel that for me, 'The Chance' is over
And, I'm obviously in the next chapter of my football career
With where I'm at with Celtic in my club football, and obviously the national team in preparation for next year
I don't think it gets much better than that.
