Hi everyone,
I'm Dr. Haley Perlus with an important weight loss tip today.
I love Pinterest for many reasons including being able to cruise through the boards for
great ideas, insights, and inspiration.
Today, while I was pinning to my weight loss board, I discovered a quote by Jimi Hendrix.
Here's the quote, "Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens." And because weight loss tips and
performance enhancement are always on my brain, I immediately started to think about how this
quote can help people who want to know how to lose weight.
Let me ask you, do you take the time to pay attention to what your body is telling you?
Our bodies are constantly sending us messages about how to fuel it, help it to heal (when
it needs healing), and how to create your best fit and firm figureā¢.
But are you listening?
As important as it is to stay on track with your workout program and healthy diet in order
to lose weight, you also need to pay attention to what your body is telling you.
In my new book, How to Lose the Last Ten (10) Pounds and Keep Them Off Forever, I teach
you how to effectively set goals to give you the best shot at achieving weight loss success.
One of the many goal achieving tools I share with you is the ability to adjust your goals
when need be.
Let me use myself as an example. Each week, my workout program includes four days of weight
training. They are no more than 20-minute fitness sessions and I perform them first
thing in the morning. On Wednesday of this week, I went to a yoga class where we devoted
a lot of time to strengthening our lower backs. I must have performed 5 yoga wheels, and then
we went down on our knees and continued to reach back into wheel, bring our forearms
to the ground -- needless to say, it was intense training for my back.
For Thursday, although I had originally planned to perform my weight training program, the
exercises on the schedule were hamstring extensions on the stability ball and lower back extensions
-- both exercises heavily involving my lower back.
As soon as I got out of bed Thursday, my body asked me to take the day off of weight training.
At that moment, I had a choice to make, and the wise side of me listened to my body and
adjusted my training schedule. Instead of weight training Thursday, I moved it to Friday.
Did I take the entire day off? No. I still went to the gym and performed my scheduled
run and swim. But I gave my back a day to figure itself out. And today, which is Friday,
when I woke up, my body thanked me and allowed me to get a great weight training workout
in.
Let me share the quote by Jimi Hendrix again: "Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens."
Take the time to listen to what your body is telling you. Your body is very knowledgeable.
When it speaks, do the wise thing and listen. Then, it will return the favor and start working
to help you lose weight and achieve your best weight loss success story.
