Video Transcript for “2014 Heartland Gateway Fifth Wheel Features (Part 1 of 2)”
Chad: Today's the day guys, the brand new 2014 Gateway by Heartland. You guys have been
waiting for this video. This has been the hottest product on the market with a full-profile
fifth-wheel at a mid-full-profile price, and a weight zone that you only need a 2500 series
pickup truck to tow. So we're going to grab Randy here, my RV expert. We're going to go
through this trailer and show you why this trailer has been the fastest growing full-profile
fifth-wheel we carry here at Pete's RV Center. We carry all their floor plans. We probably
have ever color in stock as well. So when you’re looking price, we can get
you a great price, and on top of the Heartland quality, you guys are going to love this unit.
So we're going to jump inside and we're going to grab Randy, and once again thanks for watching
Pete's RV T.V. By now all you guys know my buddy Randy Murray. Randy Murray is one of
the most knowledgeable fifth wheel specialists I know in the industry. He’s been a long
time in the mechanical side of things, now in the sales of things. We're looking inside
of this Gateway, Randy this is something that’s new to our dealership here. I say new, its,
we've had it for a little while. This is our first video on it.
The Gateway really changes the game. This is a full-profile fifth-wheel, not a lot of
weight, and we're fitting into a sweet financial spot in the market. Tell us a little bit about
the construction. Tell me a little bit, aluminum-studding sidewalls and ...
Randy: Absolutely, it is. And we've talked about this in other videos before Chad, Heartland
has really come up through the ranks build-quality wise in the last few years, and I'm really
excited to have them here at Pete's RV. They just build a great camper. There’s certain
ways to build a camper. There’s good ways and bad ways as we know, and Pete's RV tries
to do a little bit of research, and get the unit that’s out there that are really great
quality that are going to last our customers and are going to be a good value to our customers,
especially at our pricing and this one definitely falls right in our category. I'm really glad
to have it here. Construction-wise, its A on my list for sure.
Chad: Aluminum-studding sidewalls ... Randy: Aluminum studding all the way through.
We mentioned on the outside video, we've got the floor, there’s no fabric under these
floors. They slide out, it’s all hard board. Just everything s laminated, just great great
construction, going to last a long time. They've done it right on this.
Chad: This arched roof on the outside [00:02:00] is built for snow load and water runoff.
Randy: It is, waters going to run off, you got it, you got it.
Chad: And God forbid it, this has been a rainy, rainy season (Laughs). You guys wouldn't know
it but it’s very very hot in here because it’s so humid out here, and I need to stop
eating doughnuts because I'm starting to sweat like no tomorrow. (Laughs) But as far as the
trailer goes, Randy tell us a little bit amenity-wise. So we're going to have the big storage outside
which you'll see in a minute, but interior here we've got [bow 00:02:19] floor...
Randy: Bail floor in this guy, flush floor slide over here where it counts in our living
area. We've got a huge slide over here. We can see we've actually got a pocket down in
there. Our slide floor is insulated. We don't see that in all [crosstalk 00:02:33] out there.
Chad: Josh, I don't know if you can grab that. Guys just so you know, Josh is our video guy
here. Josh can you see the Astro-foil we've got in there? So that’s just another layer
of protection. Randy: It is, because that’s the least insulated
part of any RV when those slides go out. So the RV industry knew that, they saw that they
had an issue with it, and now they're insulating it on those quality trailers out there, and
we are seeing it on the Gateway. So great to see.
Chad: Cool furniture? Randy: Oh man, I love this. I, I want to get
some of this at my house. I tell you what, aah, theater seating, and we've got the large
flat screen right across. Awesome way to do it, I love it. A place even to put our adult
beverage here. Chad: This is a 32 BH, trailer, this model
here. Randy: Mm-hmm. (Affirmative). Rear living?
Chad: So yeah, rear living here. A little bit, we're going to go into some knit-picking
stuff here on this. I don't know if you can catch it from the video, probably can, but
we've got all under mounted hinges on these. Randy: They're called Euro-hinges. Back before
I started to working at Pete’s RV a million years ago, I worked at a custom cabinet shop,
and when we know we're working on a high-end house, we're using Euro-hinges. You can’t
see them, they're spring- loaded, their easily adjustable and they are nice clean looking,
and that’s what we're seeing in the Gateway, all the way around.
Chad: You can catch that there. Yeah little things they do, Josh I think you can catch
that from the video too. Just a nice, nice finish.
Randy: Some great lighting in this guy too. LED lighting throughout. Tons of it as well.
So we've got some lighting all he way across the top here. The kitchen is very well lit
as well. We've got back lighting on top of the kitchen cabinets and stuff, so it gives
it just a real high-end residential feel here. I love to see it. You’re going to be proud
to have your friends come over and hang out in this unit with you for sure. [00:04:00]
Chad: Yeah, cloth lines? That’s cool. Randy: (Laughs) Under the T.V. We've got a
safe, and some DVD storage, things like that. They think about giving us as much storage
as possible. Chad: I'm going to show you one thing too
guys in the video. This unit comes with two islands. You can get it with this one piece
flat on it, or you can get it in the, the island that has some big raises on the end
of it. Randy: With the wine racks on the ends.
Chad: With the wine racks yes. So either way. Some people like this because they get more
countertop space, some people like the other one because they can store their alcoholic
beverages in them. Randy: Oh, (Laughs) .
Chad: It rolls around which is really cool. Randy: It moves around. Get it right out of
our way, and we can tuck it up in the kitchen if we're having guests over or what have you.
So it’s a great feature to have. Chad: All solid surface.
Randy: Tons of storage, solid surface, very nice setup. I like to see it in the Gateway.
Chad: People don't realize Heartland is the number one maker of solid surface countertops.
Randy: They do and they... Chad: They still look at other manufacturers
as well. Randy: They sure do and they build a high
quality solid surface countertop too. It’s not one of those less expensive ones we're
going to see in some of the other models out there. This is really going to hold up.
Chad: It wrapped around the end. Randy: It is wrapped around. It’s got a
huge bull-nose on it. And again, that goes to the quality of the top.
Chad: The fireplace in this thing here ... Randy: Check this out.
Chad: That puts out heat and as well, aesthetics... storage, right.
Randy: (Laughs) if you’re ever looking to hide something, you’ve got a place to do
it for sure. Chad: Yeah, you know is that needed? Not needed,
but it’s really really nice. And that’s where Heartland does a lot of nice stuff like
that. If we open up some of these drawers here as well.
Randy: And if you've been in camping for a long time, especially something like this
where you may be using it as a snowbird or living in it for an extended period of time,
this is going to have plenty of storage to keep all the stuff you need to do your day-to-day.
Chad: Got the nice hinges and Josh, can you just catch this molding? I mean this is really,
you’re not going to find that in a lot of other units in this price range.
Randy: [inaudible 00:05:37] that too. I mean put your, I can put this, my whole arm in
there, so it’s a huge cabinet, tons of storage. Chad: There’s a great pantry area, it’s
got the larger oven in it, 21 inch oven with a broiler.
Randy: Absolutely. There a breadbox. Chad: Here step away here for a second, lets
finish showing off this cart. Drawers all the way on this side as well.
Randy: Owner’s manual, (Laughs) a huge thing. We don’t see that in every RV that’s sold
out there so, that’s again the Heartland taking it to the next level. [00:06:00]I love
to see that. Chad: A lot of cool stuff you can’t' see
from the video. It’s got a beautiful, beautiful sink area. So randy tell me a little bit about
the roof on this. Randy: It’s going to be a one-piece rubber
membrane. Chad: Yeah.
Randy: Front to back. It’s going to have a great warranty on it. We do need to check
those roof seals as we've talked about in some of the other videos we've made in the
past, but fully walkable, so it can handle our weight and everything like that. I like
to see it on the Gateway. Fully ducted air conditioning all the way through it. We've
got the large air conditioner here in the back, or wired and frame for it up top. So
great way to do it. Actually I think, believe this one does have the air conditioner option
up there. We have opted in for that, yeah. Chad: I'm going to throw something in the
video here guys, real quickly. At Pete’s RV Center we sell trailers as prices other
dealers can't match. I mean everybody knows that by now. I want to make sure real quickly...
Randy: Options. Chad: ... Is options. You can get tricked
and you’re looking at another brand or even the same trailer by another dealer, make sure
you go over the option list. Every trailer we have on our website, the option list is
there. You can click on it. You can print it out.
Randy: Print the window stickers where its located on ours.
Chad: Yeah print the window stickers. Yeah, don't be fooled. Things like eight cubic foot
refrigerators, instead of sixes. Fifteen thousand [BT 00:07:01] furnaces, air conditioners instead
of thirteen [inaudible 00:07:03]. Randy: Yeah, absolutely right. And when Todd
orders these, we go in and we do huge orders and if we don't get the discount we're looking
at on the trailer, then he'll negotiate options. So usually our camper's will be opted out
with more options or all available options where some of the other guys won’t. And
our price will probably be as good as or better than our competitors out there with more options,
so you’re getting more trailer for the money. Chad: We put a lot of time into these videos.
I hope you guys learn a lot from it so, reach out to us and give us a call, send us an email,
and you know, in a real short period I can let you know if you’re getting the best
deal on what you get. Of if you need towing advise or something like that. Back to this
trailer here, we've got the cool nice table in it. This trailer comes, you can get it
with two or four chairs. I think four chairs comes with it actually with two that are stored
away. Randy: Two are stored away up in that front
compartment. Most of the time, it’s going to be two adults in here, so having those
two chairs in here are just in your way... plenty of storage. So let’s keep the other
two up in that front closet and get them out when we need it. That way we're not tripping
over them. Nice leaflet there if you do have some people over. Cloth blinds all the way
around. Nice clean window look too, and as we saw from the outside or we'll see on the
outside of the video, [00:08:00]we've got the frameless windows on this guy too. So
nice look. Tons of natural light and we've got the shades
closed here to help Josh with the lighting for the video. But with all these open, it
really brightens it up in here and it looks great in here. I like the colors too. I mean
it just works well with the lighter wall board, the dark, the dark woodwork is in this year.
So it just offsets it really nicely and aesthetically is really pleasing in this guy.
Chad: As a heads up, right now if we looked in the stats, the Gateway is the fastest growing
full file, full-profile fifth-wheel on the market so.
Randy: Quality and cost. Chad: Yep. We’re going to do this Randy,
we've got some cool stuff we're going to check out outside but I'm going to go up with Josh
here so we get some cool stuff here videoed on that bedroom.
Randy: Show them that full size tub in the bathroom area really quickly, and the bedroom
in this guy is off the hook. So you’re really going to enjoy that.
Chad: Alright, well you go get yourself prepped for the outside, and we'll make our way out
there. Randy: You got it.
Chad: Hey guys this is the bathroom on this Gateway here. It’s really nice. It’s very
residential. It’s hard to see it from the video, because we're in a tight spot here.
we've got the nice glass shower that pulls back and forth. No curtain on this brand.
Some other things, solid surface countertops here with an undermount sink. Again Heartland
using that nice quality and they wrap it around with a nice bull-nose. One last thing you
can't see. This has cream colored cabinets in this area here, and it brightens it up.
As we know that bathrooms tend to be dark in some trailers, this brightens it up. I
can see two LED lights, three LED lights just in the ceiling of this. The puck-lights which
are really nice. We've got the nice skylight in here in the bathroom over the shower as
well. So we'll move on to the bedroom, I'll show
you some cool stuff in there as well. The wonderful bedroom in this really opens it
up. From the video you can easily see we've got a lot of nice finish woodwork in here
again, just like in that kitchen area. This is the first time I've seen this and this
is really nice. I’m wondering why we haven't been using this for years. You’ve got little
pockets here if you want to store your book, cell phone, watch, anything you need at night,
it could be right there for you. I've got the blinds pulled here just because
of lighting for the video, but these windows open on both sides of the slide. Got a nice
back headboard here. It’s padded, it looks very fashionable. Upfront here we've got the
nice wardrobe. On the outside you'll see the Gateway has a big front cap on it just like
some high-end Montana’s, things like the big-horn. There’s [00:10:00] one of our
extra chairs for the kitchen table. Plenty of storage up here, even got the pocket up
front which is, maybe I can turn this light on. I don't know if that light draws it out
of there. Can you see that in there Josh? A little bit, okay. Got a clothes rod to hang
up in there as well. This unit is equipped with washer/dryer prep.
There’s room for a couple more chairs in this one. So if you’re a full timer and
wanted that washer/dryer, if not it makes a wonderful hanging closet. The bed on this
one lifts up. A lot of times on these front bed slides you don't have any storage underneath
but what you’re going to see in here is we've got his and ... well you’ve got...
two people can store their stuff in here. Blankets, towels, sweatshirts, something you
don't need every day. It gives us that extra storage. A nice comfortable mattress on the
top. Once again, the colors they’ve gone with
the Gateway is, is phenomenal. We're going to scoot outside ... oh real quickly I want
to point out this is what our second air conditioner looks like for those of you who don't know
if you’re is pre-wired, but this is, actually has a second air conditioner installed. It
has two zones in this model, so that way you can control the air-conditioning temperature
in both areas. It’s really really nice. There’s no cheap one-zone. It’s got two
zones in this model. So we're going to catch up with Randy and he’s going to give us
some good advice on the outside of this and then we'll go from there.
