This video will provide you with an
overview of the safe practices that you will implement
when you're completing your 10 hours of on-road driving
at night. Now earlier today, Nikita and I caugh up
with Brian Everitt from RACQ Drive Assist
and asked him about night driving. Thanks again Warren...
When driving at night, you must make sure you turn on your vehicle's headlights
so you can see where you're going and so other road users can see you
it's also essential that along with the vehicle's headlights
all lights at the rear of the vehicle are in proper working order
high-beam headlights allow you to see further ahead than your low-beam
headlights
but you must dip them if you are within 200 metres of another vehicle
to avoid dazzling other drivers. If the headlights of the following vehicle are
causing too much glare for you,
your rearview mirror can be adjusted to reduce this affect
make sure to plan your journey at night
so you know where you're going and how you're going to get there
At night time, street signs can be more difficult to read
and some places can look different to what they do during the day
Thanks Brian. Make sure you complete
at least 10 hours on road driving at night and also include
some wet weather driving practice. Once you have completed your 100 hours
on road driving practice and you're confident that you've acquired all the
skills necessary
and completed the stage four checklist
you're ready to sit for your provisional driver's license
so stay safe, good luck and happy driving
