Now, let's talk about some of the new features in Flash CS3.
There aren't any exercise files for you to work along with,
so you can just watch and take a look at some of the new features in Flash CS3 that you'll
be learning throughout this title. One of the great features of Flash CS3 are
a few new drawing tools. The new drawing tools are the Rectangle Primitive
tool and the Oval Primitive tool. Let's take a quick look at the Rectangle Primitive
tool. In previous versions of Flash, you cannot
modify the corner radius of a rectangle after you drew it.
In Flash CS3, using the Rectangle Primitive tool, you can modify the corner radius of
a rectangle at any time. You can even invert the corner radius of a
rectangle. Another new feature in Flash CS3 is that the quarter radii of a
rectangle don't have to be the same. They can be unique for each corner.
I'll delete this rectangle on the Stage. Another great feature with Flash CS3 is its
integration with Photoshop and Illustrator. I'm going to import a PSD
file right now. In Flash CS3, you have the option to import
each individual Photoshop layer. And you can choose which format you'd like
to import each layer in. Text can even remain editable from Photoshop
into Flash. When you import a PSD file,
Flash can even name the layers in Flash the same as the layer names in Photoshop.
In addition, Flash can make a Stage size in Flash the same as your canvas size in Photoshop.
Another new feature in Flash CS3 is the programming language ActionScript 3.0. Using ActionScript
3.0, you can then add advanced interactivity to your
Flash documents. Let me show you an example of what you can do with ActionScript 3. 0.
Notice on the screen there is a Play button and a Stop button. Using ActionScript you
can control the playback of the animation using buttons.
We'll take a look at how to do this throughout this title.
Here's an example of what the buttons look like.
Notice the animation loops endlessly. Whenever I click the stop button the animation stops.
The play button makes the animation play. We're going to take a look at how to use ActionScript
3.0 to write that code. And there's a look at some the new features
in Flash CS3 that you'll be learning in this title.
