Politicians have weighed in again
on the process that is being taken by Maori TV
to appoint a new CEO,
questioning whether ex-head of Maori Programmes at TVNZ
is the right man for the job,
and his personal relationship with the board chair,
Georgina Te Heuheu.
However, Finance Minister Bill English
wants to see the board get on with its process
and choose the best person for the job.
Who will it be?
That is the question.
Labour MPs concerned at the process being taken by Maori TV
to appoint a new CEO,
and whether its chairwoman, Georgina Te Heuheu,
should play a part in the process,
as her close friend Paora Maxwell is one of the applicants.
It's better if she stays away from it all.
She shouldn't have a say.
Time will tell whether there's someone else to be considered,
but we still have our concerns.
Paora Maxwell is not the only person who applied for the role.
Maori funding agency CEO, John Bishara, also applied.
John Bishara says
he put his application in three weeks ago,
but still hasn't heard back from Maori TV.
The Minister of Finance
wants to see the matter settled by the board.
Maori TV is set to celebrate their 10th birthday next week,
and as they are in the final stages of appointing someone,
no doubt they will also know by that time who the new CEO is.
Irena Smith, Te Karere.
