Hi, my name is Michael Niren. I'm an immigration lawyer and founder of
VisaPlace.com. Today I'm going to talk about the Federal Skilled Worker
Program.
Currently there are 24 occupations that are accepted under the Federal
Skilled Worker Program. However, every occupation has a certain cap, a
certain number that is accepted, that applications are accepted under. So
currently, there are only 15 left out of the 24. Some are under healthcare,
some are under engineering, and some other occupations. I'm not going to
list them there. You can go to our website at www.VisaPlace.com for more
information.
The point being, if you're in an occupation that is no longer processed,
you're going to have to wait for the following year to apply. So it's very
important to look at the list, the occupation list. There's 15 left. And if
you have an occupation under that category, there's some in engineering, as
I said, some in healthcare and the sciences as well, it's important to
consider applying if you qualify. Because otherwise, you may be out of luck
and you may have to wait an additional year to apply.
In addition to that, the occupation list can often change and you may find
your occupation completely off the list, and that has happened, so it's
hard to plan for the future. And so I always tell our clients that if you
qualify now, that's a window and I would go through that window if you
intend to immigrate to Canada.
So currently, as I mentioned, we have 15 occupations that are open. That
obviously will change. I'll keep you updated as the year progresses, and I
wish you a great day. If you have to go and you need more information, go
