What we have here is a residence for people with
developmental challenges.
One of the primary reasons for this was that as parents
we worry about what's going to happen when we get to a point
when we couldn't look after our son and we decided
"Why wait for a crisis"?
"Lets do something."
Some one of our people found out that CMHC could help you
in doing a feasibility project, to see;
what is possible, what kind of funding would be available,
putting together a business plan and maybe a financing plan.
We were able to get some advice from legal people,
from an architect.
And it just went from there.
We found them wonderful, really.
They get excited about what you're trying to do
and they just like to feel they are a part of it.
It's just great to have the support from Canada to make
things happen for the citizens who have it
a little bit tougher than the rest of us you know.
The residents here are happy.
They feel, who they are really counts for something.
They are proud of what they're accomplishing.
And they really should be proud
of what they are accomplishing.
It is just amazing the change in some of them.
How they have developed and grown.
They are happy people.
You couldn't get them out of here with a crowbar.
