I'm Dr. Guy DiMartino. I'm an injury and accident lawyer. Today, I would like to spend a few
moments discussing a Jones fracture after an injury or accident. So this is an x-ray
of a normal foot. These are the metatarsal bones. When e come here to the metatarsal
- this is the metatarsal that is affected when there is a Jones fracture. These are
the bones of the midfoot. And here you see the bones of the ankle. This is an x-ray showing
the Jones fracture. If we follow the metatarsal down here, you'll see a break in the cortex
of the bone and you see the luceny or darkness coming into the center of the bone. You see
it better on this x-ray here. if you follow the cortex down. You see a disruption the
cortex and a luceny going across the bone here. The problem with these types of injuries,
is that folks could develop long-standing pain because they will develop arthritis or
abnormal calcium on the bottom of the metatarsal and so when they walk, it feels like they
are walking on pebbles and they continue to have pain the rest of their life. If you any
questions about how a Jones fracture can impact your life after a car accident or a slip and
fall or some other type of accident, you can always give me a call directly on my cell
phone at 352-267-9168 or you can take a look at my website and blog I have some blog posts
regarding Jones fractures that have a little more information. Thank you and have yourself
a great day.
