Pentek R30 Hey everyone, Aquaman here with FilterDoctor.com.
Today we’re looking at the Pentek R30. This is an industry standard size cartridge,
approximately 10 inches long by 2 ½ inches in diameter, which means it’s going to fit
into a vast array of industry standard size filter housings, like for example, the popular
Pentek 158642 that you see here. Now, the R30 is a 30 micron pleated polyester
sediment filter. Thirty microns is just slightly larger than a speck of milled flour, making
this kind of a middle sized cartridge in terms of sediment size. It could serve as a pre-filter,
or if you know that your sediment isn’t super fine, it may be the only filter that
you need. In any case, the polypropylene is bacteriostatic, making it a great choice for
untreated water because microorganisms cannot live and grow on the filter media. And the
polyester is extremely durable and reusable, you can wash it. Simply remove it from the
filter housing and under running water gently scrub the pleats, then reinstall and you’re
back in business. Now you can’t do this indefinitely, you’ll
probably get three to five reuses out of a filter like this.
Now, filter life is difficult to determine because it’s going to depend on your unique
circumstances. I would love to sit here and tell you this filter will last for ‘x’
number of gallons, but if I did that I would be lying to you. It’s going to depend on
your circumstances. Someone with a heavy load of sediment and using a great deal of water
is certainly going to go through this filter much faster than someone with not so much
sediment and not using that much water. Again, this is the Pentek R30, and I’m your
host Aquaman with FilterDoctor.com. Thanks for watching.
