Hi everybody
I'm Renato Candro
I already have some videos on youtube
explaining how to play some songs,
mainly by João Bosco,
that were made while I was a contributor
to the magazine Violão Pro.
As well as some songs that I wrote
about Brazilian rhythms.
I wrote a song based
on the rhythm of samba,
another one based on the rhythm of choro,
actually, based on the style of choro
and on style of samba
a waltz and a baião too.
Always looking to create songs
to players of intermediate level.
A song that was not too difficult
in which I could teach these style elements.
I'm here today because I want to teach you,
as possible,
to play the song
Jack Soul Brasileiro by Lenine.
A song that I think fantastic,
full of swing.
Lenine is a great musician too, a fine songwriter,
a very good lyricist,
owner of his own style.
When we hear him playing
is easy to know who is.
And this is, is..
This is invaluable.
It's amazing when the musician can prove
your value through finesse,
through his musical truth.
So, let's talk about the song.
In this song we will use some chords.
The first one that we will use
is this Em7 chord.
On the 7th fret with a half bar.
We must keep open the sixth string.
In the beginning of the song,
later I'll show the rhythm,
we have this, and this.
So, after this chord
we will have this another one,
that is a C6.
I have C, G, A and E notes.
A C major with sixth added.
We go back to the previous chord
with the same change
and after this we will have this G6.
Or Em7/G.
In the same way that this C6
could be a Am7/C, right?
So, reviewing, we will have this chord,
then this chord,
back to Em7,
go to this chord, the G6,
back to here.
C6 again,
back to Em7
and after this we will have this G7,
this Gb7,
this F7,
until reach the chord used to start the song,
actually, when he starts singing,
that is this Em7.
The 7th is in the top of chord, with fourth finger.
When we reached this chord we will starts
the groove of the music,
which will remain more stable,
we have these two chords
that is a A7/G,
but the 7th is duplicated,
I have the 7th in the bass and
in the middle of the chord.
Not so,
this is it.
We will have a few times these chords,
after which we will have a G7,
and back to A7/G.
So, basically, these are the chords used in the song.
So, I will now show the groove.
Let's talk of the groove.
So, starting from Em7, we will play the bass twice,
thereafter we will play these three strings,
fourth, third and second strings played,
and we will have a small blow with the hand,
with the hand in this form
we will hit over the strings with the hand.
With semi closed hand.
This is the beginning of the song.
When we hit the strings with the right hand
we reduce the strength over the strings,
stopping to press the strings with the left hand.
We must release a little bit the strings
because the sound that we will hear after,
as Lenine does,
is not like this,
not all strings will produce sound
is a semi-muted sound.
So we must try to do what he does.
Again, we have the bass twice,
the three fingers,
the hit,
so, release the pressure
- sometimes can produce a harmonic tone,
because we have a finger on the 7th fret -
The fourth finger must press two strings
and we will play the first strings.
Finally, The bass twice,
three fingers,
the hit,
release the pressure,
and this.
The groove is thumb, thumb, three fingers,
hit, index mute, thumb mute and three fingers.
So, slowly.
After this, on the C6 chord,
thumb and later three fingers
on the fifth, fourth and third strings.
So, in this little piece we have:
back to the Em7 and goes to G6.
The same groove with other chords.
Again with the C6 and here we go to the other part.
In this time we have only: thumb, thumb,
three fingers and the hit.
And so the G7,
thumb, three fingers on the fourth,
third and second strings, hit.
Repeat here.
Repeat in F7 and after we will go to the groove.
So, I will show you the whole part,
slower than the real tempo.
And here we arrived in the groove point.
The groove is easier, although not too much,
so to speak, less difficult
than the part of introduction
because it has fewer variations.
So, we have the same thing that before,
two thumbs,
three fingers,
hit the strings,
three fingers before chord's change
after we have three finger
thumb and three fingers again.
Complete is like this:
These chord changes happen three times,
Em7 to A7/G,
then we use G7.
Back to Em7,
G7...
In the beginning, there is a "viola caipira"
which does something like this.
After the "viola" some "alfaias" (percussion instruments)
begins a maracatu rhythm
until the guitar join them,
that happen as I explained before.
In this time he starts singing.
Hope I helped who is wanting to play this music
and I hope meet you in a next time.
A big hug.
