Hello! I am Majda from ayControl. In this video I'm going to show you how to configure the structure of your ayControl project.
In the previous video tutorial I showed you how to add basic control elements to your project.
I will assume you have already seen that video tutorial, and that you understand how to add new control elements.
After adding the control elements to your profile, you need to place them in a structure.
This is done in "Structure" tab, the third tab on the bottom of the ayControl Editor.
Generally spoken, most buildings are separated in sections, and sections are separated in rooms.
A section could be, for example, the 1st floor, and on the 1st floor we could have a bedroom, a kitchen, and so on.
Because of this, the structure of an ayControl project is also separated in sections and rooms.
So, let us start by adding a section.
And now we can add a room in our section.
We can also select a matching symbol for the room, for example, a bed symbol for the master bedroom.
I will now also add another room, the guests bedroom, just to show you later how the rooms are displayed in the app.
Each room can have one or more layouts for different device types.
This way you can optimize the looks of your profile for different devices, depending on the size and orientation of the device.
We are going to create two different layouts: one for a tablet, and one for a smartphone .
First we create a layout for a tablet in landscape. We will only need one page in this case, because there is plenty of space available.
Now, this grid represents the available space in which the control elements will be displayed on the tablet.
I can just double click on an empty space and select the control element I want to be placed there.
The add button can be used for this too.
So now I add some more control elements...
I can also expand any control element over several rows and columns.
To do this, I just hold the shift key in the combination with arrow keys.
And now I will add a layout for an iPhone 5.
So, now I can start placing control elements in the pages.
Note how on the right side of this switch, it says "another room layout".
This means that we have already used this control element in another layout (the tablet layout in this case).
This feature is useful when you are creating several layouts because you can sort the list by the control elements you used before.
This way you will not forget any control elements in a second layout.
You can see that there is not so much space in the grid for all the control elements we have already put in the tablet landscape layout.
This is why I need to add another page.
And now that we are finished with the structure of the profile, we can transfer it to our mobile devices and see the results.
Make sure you take a look at our next video tutorial, where we will explain how to do this.
Thank you for watching!
