Our people, hello
It's me, Nnamdi Onyeka Eneugwu speaking
I was on YouTube looking for somewhere where Igbo people were using their language to talk about issues affecting Igbo land.
But I didn't find anything useful there.
I don't why we are sitting here as humans yet we reek of the spirit world.
What I wanted to talk about today is culture.
Some people, when they hear the word "omenana" they think of one prostrating to a deity. No!!!
Culture causes controversy because of this kind of incorrect thinking.
In reality, culture is how we live, the clothes we wear, the food we eat, and the language we speak.
Kola nut, masquerades, and palm wine are all a part of that.
All of these things emerge from how our ancestors understood the human condition in the world, the relationship of man and his neighbor, and the relationship of man and God.
There is some news I've been hearing about Ndi Igbo that is deeply upsetting.
I'm hearing that the language is dying.
May God not allow the lizard to grow hair. (i.e God forbid!).
Language is the vehicle of culture for every ethnic group...the voicing of thoughts and the means to carry them out
Language is the eyes and the mouth of an ethnicity.
The most important part of ethnic identity is language.
That's why I'm encouraging you all to speak the language so that it doesn't die off.
If you see that your sibling brother/sister does not know how to speak the language, or write it, teach him
I'm encouraging you all to be as passionate about Igbo things as I am.
Listen to our music....Eat our food
Let me tell you all
A friend of mine came to visit me yesterday.
so I started looking for something to welcome him with.
So I asked, "Dude, do you want to eat abacha?"
He said, "That white thing?"
I threw myself on the ground
How can a son of the soil be asking what is abacha?
End Times!
This my friend is a young man who grew up in Lagos...now asking what is abacha. It's problematic.
My prayer is that we may continue to promote those things that define us as a people
May we reject absurd bickering in Igbo land over culture.
Even if you are a Christian, if you are in Idemili, don't kill the python.
May all Igbo sons and daughters remain unified and go forward with love.
Love is what will save us.
You all already know that I use music to close.
The music of our brother Pat Obasi is what I will sing now
The name of this song is "Love"
Come dance for me a dance of love.
I will sing for you a song of hope
He who sees something greater than hope may he experience it alone, so long as there is no controversy afterwards
He who sees something greater than hope may he experience it alone, so long as there is no controversy afterwards
Come dance for me a dance of love.
I will sing for you a song of hope
He who sees something greater than hope may he experience it alone, so long as there is no controversy afterwards
He who sees something greater than hope may he experience it alone, so long as there is no controversy after peace
May you all succeed. Bye!
