Hi! I'm Karen for Expert Village. Now we are going to use our needle that we threaded.
It has a good knot and we are going to start with the needle underneath the garment and
come up where we have marked the garment and pull, give it a good tug to make sure the
knot is tight and big enough and not going to come through. This type of a button will
hold it on its side while we are sewing. We come up through the hole and then down into
the garment and up again through from the bottom, put the needle through the hole of
the button and you do this several times, maybe 5 or 6, whatever you think looks nice
and strong. You go down underneath and then up from behind through the hole and then down
5 or 6 times is good. Now we are going to knot it on the back and this is how you knot
it. Pull your thread, check your buttons;l this is good. Grab a little bit of the fabric
like this and pull it but hold the loop and then put your needle back through the loop
and it makes another loop like this. Slide the first loop down and then you've got this
loop and you can do this again. You can do it 2 or 3 times, putting the needle through,
pulling the loop down and then just pull it tight and that will make a nice solid knot
and then cut off the excess and that is we've hand sewed our first button.
