Now we're going to start with the basic forehand, it's kind of like a tennis shot, they call
it table tennis for a reason because it is like tennis. I usually try to hit my forehand,
with the same grip that you use with a tennis racket. You're basically shaking hands with
it. The V of your thumb and index finger fits right in where the head of the paddle starts
so that you can go either side. You can go forehand or you can go backhand, with this
type of grip. Once you've established your grip, you're coming off the forehand, with
the extension of your arm, hanging your arm, if you can. As you get more proficient at
it, you'll end-up putting more of a wrist into it but to begin with, you should probably
just use an arm stroke and try to keep the wrist from breaking or flopping. You want
to keep your wrist as stiff as you possibly can and you're just going to come through,
with the arm, straight through the ball with a nice little arch to it. Keep your eye on
the ball, as it makes contact with your paddle and the ball should fly over the net, pretty
easy.
